There’s one event every year that assembles the citizens of Hemet, and this year, it was a cold one. December 7th, the city of Hemet hosted its annual Christmas Parade.
Falling on Pearl Harbor Day, the parade was themed “Salute to America” in order to honor and salute those veterans that once served our country. Out of 108 entries, the highest amount on record, Hemet High lingered around the center of the parade. AFJROTC led the Bulldog pack, followed by Hemet’s Varsity and JV Cheer. The Hemet High School Marching Band followed, marching down Florida Avenue while playing a montage of holiday songs and “Jump On It!”. The dance team trailed last, performing a dance to the band’s holiday tune. The following week, the band found out that they received 1st place out of all the bands that participated.
Despite the 40-degree weather and ongoing drizzle, the parade was reported to host the most attendees to date. It may have literally “rained on everyone’s parade”, but it didn’t dampen the spirits of thousands of participants and spectators.
