Your fate is nearly sealed; it’s senior year, and the hectic college admission process is coming to an end. You feel yourself caving into increased laziness, you experience an over-excessive wearing of track pants and lack of motivation takes over. The disease plagues high school seniors everywhere. Moods drop; bodies’ slump, and grades lessen in importance. It’s lethal, it’s dangerous, it’s senioritis.
Senioritis is that intensifying disinterest in maintaining high school academic standards that you might be feeling if you’re a senior. Most cases of senioritis tend to start off after college applications and the first semester, but this year, it’s kicking in early for most seniors. David Gonzales said, “I’ve had it since junior year, which doesn’t make sense because it’s called senioritis. It should definitely just be called lazy-student syndrome since majority of the school has it to some degree.” He later said, “I’m quite good at procrastinating now. Apathy’s a big thing; I really don’t care. That’s basically it; I just really don’t care. I just can’t wait to leave honestly”.
Senioritis is one of the toughest battles that any senior can face in high school, and it really is just going to get worse. It’s a constant battle between “I don’t want to fail” and “I don’t care enough to do anything”. The year may be halfway over, but make sure not to get too lazy! There’s still one last semester in store.
