Avril Lavigne

When it comes to the monthy music review, I always try to change up the genre every now and again. This time around, I couldn’t help but do an artist that I have always loved and grew up listening to, the “mother[freaking] princess” herself, Avril Lavigne. Avril Lavigne is a French and Canadian singer-songwriter, who by the age of 16, already had a two-album recording contract. Avril is known for songs such as “Complicated”, “Sk8er Boi”, “My Happy Ending”, and “Girlfriend”. On November 5th, she released her fifth studio album, Avril Lavigne.

On her self-titled album, Avril stuck with her well-known, rebellious-sounding pop-punk ways. On the album, Avril does a number of collaborations, such as a track with Marilyn Manson and another track with her new hubby Chad Kroeger, “Let Me Go”. “Let Me Go” is the second single to be released, and is ruling the radio as we speak. Avril released the first single off the album, “Here’s to Never Growing Up”, back in July, and it became the martyr for the entire album. Songs such as “17”, show the youthful ways that she has always aquired. Despite the fact that she is inching in on age 30, Avril Lavigne will always be a teenager at heart. The album is just as upbeat as any other album of hers, if not more, and is great for those looking to have fun. On the deluxe edition, not only will you hear new original music, but also a few renditions of popular songs, such as Joan Jett’s “Bad Reputation” and Nickelback’s “How You Remind Me”.

Conclusively, Avril’s new album is a total success. If you’re looking for a youthful, fun and upbeat album with her greatest vocal performance, then Avril Lavigne is the album for you.
