Empowering Performances Impacting Communities (EPIC) Assembly

When students heard that there would be an assembly the Friday before break, most weren’t too thrilled. Little did students know, the assembly would be unlike any other: an EPIC assembly. Students were pleasantly surprised when they walked into an assembly filled with lights, hip-hop music, and dancing. The assembly featured a team of people from around the country, ranging from ages 18-30, who shared their life stories and struggles.

EPIC Assemblies’ goal is to share each individual’s story, entertain and let you know that you’re not alone. Rather than discussing topics such as suicide, self-harm, and drug addiction with a routine speech and applause, the performers shared their stories through skits, dance numbers, and a musical performance. While the assembly was pure entertainment for some, it struck a nerve for others who found an individual that they could relate to.

Later that night, the show went on at the EPIC Assemblies’ After Party at Community Christian Church. There, students from Hemet High, Tahquitz, West Valley, San Jacinto and Mountain View participated in dance battles and experienced a performance from a rap duo who are pieces to the EPIC puzzle, KNi.

EPIC Assemblies’ are currently on tour around Southern California, making appearances in high schools and communities everywhere. EPIC was an assembly like no other, and made a permanent stamp on the Hemet valley and students of Hemet High.
