Hemet High School to stage ‘Charlotte’s Web’ Saturday

HEMET HIGH SCHOOL
The Children’s Theatre program at Hemet High School will be staging “Charlotte’s Web” at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16. It will be the final of three performances.

It is the first of two Children’s Theatre plays produced by the student cast and crew stemming from one large class effort. The tale is a unique journey that takes the viewer to a world where we can see animals as they would like to be seen. The play is suitable for audiences of all ages.

   The play, scripted by Joseph
Robinette from the original story by E. B White, focuses on the young spring pig, Wilbur (played by junior Sarah White) as she begins life on the Arable’s farm. Her fast friendship with Fern (played by senior Ricki Perry) helps her survive some of the harsh realities of farm life. Along with Fern, Wilbur befriends Charlotte A. Cavatica (played by junior Cheyenne Coorough), a spider whose maternal nature helps Wilbur come to terms with the revelation that she will end up as someone’s meal.

   Charlotte gets assistance
from the colorful cast of animals on the farm, including Templeton the Rat (played by junior Veronika Johnson), the Goose and Gander (played by junior Reece Jones and senior Justin Daniels), and Mother Sheep and her lamb (played by seniors Paige Miser and Kathryn Valdez).

Admission is $7 for adults and $4 for ASB card holders and children under 13. Tickets will be on sale at the box office one hour before each performance. Performances will be in the Ron Murray Performing Arts Complex at Hemet High School, 41701 E. Stetson Ave.
