For many years now, women have been fighting for their lives due to breast cancer. Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer and affects millions of women each year. Not only women get breast cancer; men can get it also, which is very rare. October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month, not only for the awareness of the disease, but to also raise funds for research and prevention.
Many professional sports teams are supporting the cause as well. The NFL is now “pinked out”, with pink ribbons on game balls and players wearing pink cleats. Also, MLS (Major League Soccer) all wore a special pink MLS W.O.R.K.S ribbon patch on their jerseys, with pink adidas sweat bands. The NBA (National Basketball Association), who does their own thing to celebrate the cause; The Cleveland Cavaliers for example have teamed up to “Box-Out Breast Cancer.” They wear pink Nikes in order to support breast cancer. Last but not least, the MLB (Major League Baseball) supports by wearing the symbolic pink ribbon, as well as pink wristbands, cleats and necklaces. As you can see people all over the world support the cause of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Even people here at Hemet High are supporting the fight against breast cancer. The color pink is flooding through our school. The football and volleyball teams are supporting the cause also by wearing pink socks; some people are even dying streaks of pink in their hair just to show they care. In previous years, all the girls in the senior class have come to school wearing tutus to support the cause. Many walks and runs are taking place to donate money around the country, so if you’re interested or want to help out go out and show you care!
