With Halloween comes the ultimate question: where are you going trick or treating tonight? Being that we are all in high school, the question has changed a bit: will you be trick or treating this year? Some teens think that they should still be able to trick or treat at their age. Other teens think trick or treating is a thing of their past and that they are either too old or “too cool” for it now. Also, most adults believe that teens are too old to be trick or treating and aren’t a big fan of teen trick or treaters.
So my question to my fellow peers is: is trick or treating a thing of our past or do we have the right to trick or treat just as little junior high kids are able to? Senior Trevor Goralski said, “I don’t trick or treat anymore, I feel like I’m too old to. 17 to 18 is a little too old, girls can still do it because they like to dress up in costumes and stuff. I feel now that I should dress up only to scare little kids, but not to go get candy. Or just sit at my house and still scare kids.” Pedro Salas said, “I trick or treat every year. I think teens should be able to trick or treat. I don’t think there is an age cut off, as long as you enjoy it, its fine.” When Mario Rodriguez was asked if he still trick or treats he said, “Of course, I love it. I think teens most definitely should be able to trick or treat. As long as you can walk, you should be able to trick or treat.” Justin Taylor also thought that there should be no age cut off for people who wish to still trick or treat.
Well you heard it from the students at Hemet High School, teens here still love to go trick or treating, with the exception of those who love to use the holiday to just scare little kids. I hope you all have a great Halloween and stay safe!
