Halloween Traditions

With Halloween approaching many people get excited to dressing up in costumes, carve pumpkins, watch horror films, and most importantly go trick or treating. No matter how old we get, everyone gets excited for Halloween not only for all the activities that can be done, but also for the cool weather, warmer clothing, and fall nights.

Trick or treating is a tradition that most of us done since we were little. From all the embarrassing costumes our parents made us wear, to finally being able to pick what we wanted, to not even wearing them anymore and just walking around town trying to bum candy off of people. Trick or treating is a fun way not only to collect candy but to also have fun with your friends!

Carving pumpkins is a Halloween-time favorite from carving pumpkins into jack-o-lanterns to putting them on your front porch, to carving them into your own design. It can be very fun, but also be very messy. Since we were little I’m sure everyone can remember how fun-carving pumpkins is, and being able to put them on your front porch!

As I went around campus I asked a few people what they did on Halloween or how they celebrated. Candra Scering said, “ I stay inside, and lock all the doors. Halloween scares me.” Which Halloween can, it’s a fun holiday for some, but a nightmare for others.

There are all different types of traditions, depending on what you like to do. Whether it is to staying in and watching your favorite scary movie, or go out and trick or treat and have fun with friends, it’s all up to you! Be sure to make the best out of holiday because before you know it you will be taking your kids trick or treating!
