Welcome Back, Bulldogs!

The first assembly of the year, the Welcome Back Assembly, was held on Friday, August 30th. There, the students of Hemet High collectively sat in the crowded bleachers, the seniors on the opposing side, and experienced a number of games, performances, and a speech from the Varsity Football team themselves.

The assembly kicked off with a short performance from the JV Cheer Team, and later a performance by Varsity Cheer. Throughout the assembly, students competed in a number of different games and activities-from relay races to an extreme game of musical chairs.

While the assembly was initially meant to officially welcome back all the students of Hemet High, the assembly doubled as a pep assembly to get ready for the first football game of the season against Banning. Seah Ruh, who spoke for the team, said, “No one expects us to win tonight”. Sean later said, ”We don’t care if we win or not. We’re just a bunch of high school kids who want to win some games this year”. Who would have known that they would later take their first win of the season?

The assembly closed with a routine from a fan favorite, ROTC, who has been asked to attend and perform at the assemblies, due to the great reaction they received from students and faculty last year. From friends, to music and dancing, the first assembly of the year was a success, and a good way start the school year with some school spirit.
