The word “Millennials” refers to our generation: the generation that started school in the new millennium. According to the Huffington Post, a study was conducted by the car rental company, Zipcar, proving that our generation would rather have a smart phone than having their own car. Their data states that 30% of people between the ages of 18 and 34 said that giving up their smart phone and/or laptop would have the greatest negative effect on their lives. I took a look at this survey and wanted to conduct one of my own. What would you rather own, a car or smart phone/laptop?
When I asked the population of our school, 102 people said they would rather have a car, while only 60 people wanted a phone or laptop. In accordance with their survey, we have proven that high school students who chose differently. Think about it: would you rather have the luxury of having a cell phone, a device in which you can contact anyone in the world, or a car, where you can drive anywhere you wish? Good question.
