Luke Bryan, the “party boy” of country music, is most famously known for his songs “Drunk On You”, “I Don’t Want This Night to End”, and “Country Girl (Shake it for Me)”, most of which were recorded onto his second album, Tailgates and Tanlines. On August 13th, the 2013 ACM Entertainer of the Year released his fourth studio album, Crash My Party. Crash My Party is named after the Platinum-selling multi-week #1 hit which he premiered during the 2013 ACM Awards in April, and still remains on top despite the fact that the album received a number of mixed reviews. The album debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with the third-largest sales week of the year and is still one of the top country albums, for good reason.
Country music’s a subjective genre; it’s a genre that you either love or hate. Fortunately for listeners, Crash My Party has different styles track-to-track, from the bass-driven songs like the first track, “That’s My Kind of Night”, to the more traditional-sounding country tracks, “Goodbye Girl” and “Drink a Beer”. “That’s My Kind of Night” was the second single released from the album and is blasting on country music airways everywhere. Bryan’s first single off the album, “Crash My Party”, was an instant hit, and is still on top after premiering close to five months ago. Catchy melodies are what drive most of what you hear on Crash My Party, but if country fans were expecting the album to completely abandon steel guitars and fiddles, there are still songs like “We Run This Town” and “Dirt Road Diary”. No two tracks are the same; in every song, Bryan sings about a different part of his life- everything from coping with the death of a loved one to experiencing young love. Bryan writes and co-writes the majority of his music; therefore all of Bryan’s songs have some sort of significant meaning to him, while still allowing fans to relate to it as well.
Luke Bryan is quite possibly one of the hottest male musicians in country music, and his good looks don’t hurt that cause either. Bryan is nominated for three upcoming CMA awards, including Entertainer of the Year, and began his Dirt Road Diaries tour on September 20th. Crash My Party is personally one of my favorite albums, and everyone should definitely listen to it at least once. Whether you’re a country music fan or not, both Luke Bryan and Crash My Party are forces to be reckoned with.
