It’s that time of year again; ASB students are running around with their heads cut off like chickens, students are procrastinating on gathering their attire and buying their tickets, Varsity cheer is frantically trying to blend the JV team into their own formations, and guys are coming up with sly ways to ask their girlfriends, crushes or even best friends to the Homecoming Dance. What are they preparing for you, ask? The Homecoming game and dance of course! Some consider it to be the most stressful time of year, next to prom, while others could simply care less.
Cheyenne Rodriguez had an especially stressful week before Homecoming, being that she made Homecoming court, and is the Varsity cheer teams Captain, and was planning on attending the Homecoming dance; she had a lot to prepare for! When asked how she prepared for Homecoming, she said, “Well I wont be cheering at the Homecoming game, but my team will be and they’re getting prepared by practicing everyday for two hours and working really hard on their stunting. And JV is also included in the Homecoming game so they are practicing with us this week. I myself am preparing for Homecoming too. Wednesday I am getting my eyebrows done, Saturday I am getting my nails done, and then I’m going to do my own hair and make up hopefully that turns out good. And then on Saturday it’s all a matter of putting it together.” I also asked Lauren Bridge about her preparations as well, and she said, “I’m going shoe shopping on Tuesday, then Wednesday I have a nail appointment, Friday I’m getting my eyebrows done, then Saturday I’m just getting my hair done.” I had a chance to get in touch with Cameron Miser who was in charge of all things Homecoming. He was in charge of the football game, the breathe-taking half time show, and the dance too! You can only imagine how stressed he was! Cameron said, “Its like really really really hectic! Kaitlin Wuerth and I had to count the votes for top 25 single handedly, like tally marks and there was probably close to a thousand of those. We did scan trons for top 5, which was way easier! We had rehearsal in the stadium for our big half time show. The dance is going to be awesome! The DJ was really expensive and he’s going to be really good!
Homecoming sounds like it turned out to be a great time! Everyone is spent a lot of time and money into this special occasion. This exciting occasion is one of the many events of our senior year. The passing of Homecoming only means we are that much closer to Graduation in May!
