Do you like writing? Is it your favorite thing to do? On Wednesday September 18th students at Hemet High School participated in a writing prompt given to us from the district. Most students dreaded it, but we had to do it. Students prepared for this by getting a blue planning sheet from their English teacher, and picking one of two prompts to write about.
Our bell schedule was changed quite a bit, as we had two third periods. One of which was an extra 45 minutes in order to complete the writing assignment, and the second being your actual third period. Writing can be fun, but most people hate it. I hope everyone took their time and actually knew what they were writing about.
When writing I encourage everyone to take their time and fully brainstorm before they begin. If you don’t know what you’re writing about or have no purpose at all, your writing will not be as good. The best writing is the kind where it is not rushed, but where you take your time. When you are writing think about what you’re writing about, and don’t just rush and try to finish it. College is important, whether you plan to go or not.
This writing prompt was preparing us for when its time to start applying for colleges, as you will have to write essays to get in most colleges, no matter if it’s a UC or even a Cal State. [Depending on where you plan to go in your future, this prompt is a guide and even practice for when it really is time to start applying to colleges.]
