MORENO VALLEY — Moreno Valley Valley View quarterback Abraham Nuno seemed calm, cool and determined tolet the game come to him on Friday night.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound senior decimated Hemet from the pocket, throwing for two touchdowns and running for another as the Eagles soared past the Bulldogs, 35-14, in a nonleague showdown.

“Our game plan was winning. Just win every play,” said a well-rested Nuno, who was rested the entire fourth
quarter in preparation for next week’s league opener against Moreno Valley Rancho Verde. “One play at a time. Never do too much.”

It didn’t take long for Nuno to get going, throwing two quick TD passes to open the scoring in the first half — connecting with Jordan Randolph from 15 yards out and Hakeem Eubanks on an 11-yarder.

Joseph Botello returned an interception 51-yards, giving the Eagles (3-1) a 21-0 lead at the half.

   Two plays after a Eubanks
caught a 36-yard pass, Nuno gave the Eagles a 28-0 advantage by scoring on a 1-yard quarterback sneak in the third quarter.

Eubanks made it 35-0 with an electrifying 42-yard run.

Hemet (2-2) couldn’t get its offense going until late in the game, crippled by injuries to running backs Art Cruz and Sean Ruh in the first half.

   In the fourth quarter, Jimmy
Vines cut the lead to 35-7 with a 13-yard TD catch, and QB Justin Judge made it 35-14 with a 1-yard run.

“Every game is important but (Moreno Valley) Rancho Verde is our biggest obstacle,” said Nuno, who finished with113 yards on10 of13 passing with one interception. “Our goal is to first win league and, of course, CIF-SS champs.”
