Hemet Community Concert Association presented a performance grant award of $2,000 to flutist Erec VonSeggern at its April 28 concert.

As part of the presentation, VonSeggern performed the second movement from John La Montaine’s “Sonata for Solo Flute.”

Part of Hemet High School’s instrumental music program, VonSeggern will attend Lawrence University in Appleton, Wis., as a music major.

“We are so pleased to be in a position to offer significant assistance to a talent like Erec,” said Diane Mitchell,
HCCA’s artistic director. “Upon hearing him, the entire performance grant committee immediately and unanimously agreed that he was our choice for this year.”

Supported by donations and artists’ CD sales, the HCCA Performance Grant Fund provides financial support to local high school graduates intending to pursue musical performance career studies at an institute of higher education.
