Academic Decathlon to start

RIVERSIDE COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION
   The 30th Annual Riverside County Academic Decathlon sponsored by the Riverside County Office of Education will begin with essay writing, speeches and interviews on Saturday, Jan. 26, at Heritage High School, 26001 Briggs Road, Menifee. More than 180 students will compete, including 19 high school teams from Riverside County. Students will write essays, deliver prepared and impromptu speeches, and participate in an interview with judges. The theme for 2013 is “Russia.” The competition continues on Feb. 2 when the students will take seven written tests and finish the day in the Super Quiz competition. Super Quiz is the only event open to the public besides the Awards Ceremony. The Super Quiz begins at 2 p.m. in the Heritage High gymnasium. Individual and team winners will be announced during the Awards Ceremony to be held at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 2 at Heritage High. The winning team will go on to compete at the California Academic Decathlon to be held March 14-17 in Sacramento. For additional information, contact Tracey Rivas, 951-826-6570, [email protected]  .
