Principal's Message

Parents and Community,

What an honor and privilege it is to be the principal of Hemet High School.

On behalf of the teachers, support staff and leadership team, we would like to welcome you to our school!  The 2011-2012 school year is off to a fantastic start.

Hemet High is a school rich with tradition and a long standing belief in excellence, these are traits that I will work hard to continue building upon during my tenure. With positive school leadership, a commitment to team and a dynamic staff, HHS is on the move to equip our students with a progressive education that will enable them to compete in the competitive global economy.

This year, we are committed to bringing back many old traditions, while moving forward with new ambition and positive momentum.  We want to extend an invitation to you to visit our school. Moreover, we want you to be an active participant in your child’s learning. As we work to continually improve our collective efforts, communication is important and valued.

Please check out our new web site, which can provide you a direct connection to what is occurring at our site, as well as with your child's education. We are proud of our teachers and their efforts to go above and beyond to help all students achieve. Our staff and students are our most valued asset here at HHS. We are confident that we have the best teachers who are highly trained in their content areas. We are confident that we have the brightest students. We are proud to offer outstanding extracurricular activities: band, choir, drama, dance, athletics, Academic Decathlon, Mock Trial ~ just to name a few. We encourage each and every student to find their niche and get involved!

On behalf of the leadership team, we thank you for entrusting us with your son/daughter. We do not take this commitment lightly. May this school year bring you abundance, good health, and many blessings. Welcome again to the HHS Family.

Go Bulldogs!
Emily Shaw, Ed. D. Principal

No Name-Calling Week

No Name-Calling Week was inspired by a young adult novel entitled "The Misfits" by popular author, James Howe. The book tells the story of four best friends trying to survive the seventh grade in the face of all too frequent taunts based on their weight, height, intelligence, and sexual orientation/gender expression. Motivated by the inequities they see around them, the "Gang of Five" (as they are known) creates a new political party during student council elections and run on a platform aimed at wiping out name-calling of all kinds. The No-Name Party in the end, wins the support of the school's principal for their cause and their idea for a "No Name-Calling Day" at school.
