The following video is a 3 minute video explaining how the CCSS will help students achieve at high levels and help them learn what they need to know for graduation and beyond. This video's intended audience is parents. 

Additionally, the California Department of Education has created information and resources about the CCSS for students, parents and guardians. Included in these resources is a parent handbook that gives parents an introduction to California's CCSS and a summary of what students are expected to learn by grade level. Resources are also available on ways parents can support the CCSS at home. Many of the resources have been translated in multiple languages.  Below is the link to all available resources.

The Riverside County Office of Education, through its Parent Leadership Initiative is co-hosting the 4th Annual Parent and Family Engagement Summit, with the 23rd District PTA . The event is scheduled for Thursday, September 19, 2013 at the Palm Springs Convention Center.  Past Summits have proven to be a great way for participants to gather information, network with others, and celebrate successes.  This is a great opportunity.
