Welcome to PLTW Engineering
Welcome to PLTW Engineering!!
In PLTW Engineering, students engage in open-ended problem solving, learn and apply the engineering design process, and use the same industry-leading technology and software as are used in the world’s top companies. Students are immersed in design as they investigate topics such as sustainability, mechtronics, forces, structures, aerodynamics, digital electronics and circuit design, manufacturing, and the environment, which gives them an opportunity to learn about different engineering disciplines before beginning post-secondary education or careers.
We are excited to be offering several courses which should excite your student if they are interested in Engineering! Please take a look at the 'classes' page for more information on what each course will offer. This year, we are offering 5 Engineering courses:
- Introduction to Engineering Design (IED)
- Principles of Engineering (POE)
- Aerospace Engineering (AE)
- Civil Engineering and Architecture (CEA)
- Environmental Sustainability (ES)
This year, we will be augmenting all of the courses with new curriculum in 3D printing, CNC milling, thermoforming, and laser cutting as well as introducing students to build concepts and other hand-held machinery and tools and advanced laboratory concepts such as PCR and DNA analysis. We will continue our focus on Robotics through our school-sanctioned club - The CircuitBreakers which will be focusing on obtaining and building the Farmbot (farmbot.io)! Our program is always a work in progress, and we will update and augment as much as possible as time goes on.
We look forward to working with your student - please do not hesitate to contact myself, or your students teacher, should you have any questions/concerns.
