Welcome to Engineering!!

In Engineering, students engage in open-ended problem solving, learn and apply the engineering design process, and use the same industry-leading technology and software as are used in the world’s top companies. Students are immersed in design as they investigate topics such as sustainability, mechtronics, forces, structures, aerodynamics, digital electronics and circuit design, manufacturing, and the environment, which gives them an opportunity to learn about different engineering disciplines before beginning post-secondary education or careers.

We are excited to be offering several courses which should excite your student if they are interested in Engineering!  We are offering 3 courses starting in 2018-19:

- Engineering Fundamentals (EF) - students will explore 10 of the 17 areas of Engineering through hands-on projects and the flipped classroom environment.  The 10 areas include: Mechanical, materials, manufacturing, electrical, computer, civil, aerospace, chemical, bio, and environmental.

- Intro to Robotics (Robotics) - students will spend a school year preparing for a Vex Robotics challenge - the final project example can be seen at: https://youtu.be/UAAw3Kp9MN0?list=PLWeWrIn3HVkmsR5sBSc8T8144ZLiON_ve  Students will also work with 3D printing, laser cutting, and CNC milling in this course.

- Environmental Science & Engineering (ESE) - students will explore Environmental Science & Engineering through hands-on activities which will include: water treatment & safety, waste management & recycling, GMOs, algae as biofuel, and more!

We look forward to working with your student - please do not hesitate to contact myself, or your students teacher, should you have any questions/concerns.
