December Governing Board Award

The Governing Board of the Hemet Unified School District, on nomination by Trustee Rob Davis, has selected Telekaki Stevens, Nutrition Services Assistant at Hemet High School, as the December recipient of the Governing Board Recognition and Award.

Tele began working for Nutrition Services in 1992.  She has since created such an impact in our nutrition services department that she is a cornerstone of the Hemet High kitchen. Tele has an outstanding work ethic and holds her staff and students to high standards.  Tele is fierce and passionate and always puts the interests of the students first.  Tele is compassionate, she encourages students to make healthy food choices, and she also sets expectations for students to be respectful and orderly as they go through the lunch lines.

Tele takes pride in her work, always following policies and procedures to ensure food safety and quality products for students.  She ensures other staff are on task, she trains new staff, she covers for her manager in her absence. Tele will help students any way possible, she works with student workers in the kitchen, and always encourages students to do their best.  Her efforts help keep the HHS kitchen running like a well-oiled machine.

Not only is Tele an exemplary employee for Nutrition Services, but I know her Bulldog spirit is also deeply rooted, as her own children attended Hemet High and were successful student athletes.

Melissa Truax, our Cafeteria Manager states that “Tele has a genuine care and concern for students. Tele seeks to get to the heart of a problem and seeks to bring out the character of a student. Tele has a special place in her heart for football players and often coaches and encourages them. She is a good friend and listener to those who seek her out.”

For outstanding performance, professionalism and loyalty to the Hemet Unified School District, Trustee Rob Davis presented Telekaki Stevens with the Governing Board Recognition of Excellence Award and a $500 certificate to be used toward the District program of her choice.
