The Jazz Ensemble is a select group of 19 to 22 instrumentalists who will function as a performance group in big band jazz. The group will receive thorough training in the many styles of dance and jazz music as exemplified in the works of the most talented composers and arrangers in this field. Performances and rehearsals outside of the regular school day are required. Students must be enrolled in band to take Jazz Ensemble.

The Jazz Ensemble is a performing organization for instrumental students interested in the playing and performance of big band jazz. Students will audition and will be placed in either the Jazz Ensemble 1 or 2, according to their ability and experience. Performances and rehearsals outside the regular school day are required. Students must be enrolled in band to take Jazz Ensemble.

• GRADE LEVEL: 9-12 • PREREQUISITE: AUDITION, ADVANCED MUSIC ABILITY

Students are given the opportunity to acquire understanding, skill, and techniques in the performance of music for present and future enjoyment. Emphasis will be placed on refinement of tone, technique, and versatility of the individual player. The following activities are part of the symphonic band program: marching band, pep band, jazz ensemble, solo and ensemble experience, individual or group instruction. Performance and rehearsal outside the regular school day are required.

• PREREQUISITE: INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC EXPERIENCE AND AN AUDITION
