Hemet school district names top students

HEMET UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT 
   Hemet Unified School District high schools announced their valedictorians and salutatorians for the class of 2015 last week. 

   Hemet Unified calculates valedictorian and salutatorian honors using a formula where the student’s grade-point average and SAT scores are multiplied. 

   Tahquitz High School’s valedictorian is Michael Lenihan, who earned a 4.05 GPA and a SAT score of 2120. Michael hopes to attend UCLA to study film production or veterinary medicine. 

   Thy Vo will represent Tahquitz as salutatorian with a GPA of 4.28 and SAT score of 1980. She plans to study business, finance and accounting at a University of California campus. 

   Hemet High School, with a senior class of 556 students, is led by Danielle Simmons with a GPA of 4.395 and SAT score 2290. After high school, her goal is to attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and study actuarial science. 

   Representing Hemet as salutatorian is Alena Dinh, with a GPA of 4.386 and a SAT score of 2210. She hopes to attend UCLA and major in microbiology and immunology and become a clinical pathologist. 

   Hamilton High School has Torrin Williams as valedictorian. He scored 2090 on the SAT. He plans to attend UC Irvine with a major in computer engineering. 

   Hamilton High School recognizes Emma Harte as salutatorian, with a 3.9 GPA and 1900 on the SAT. She plans to attend Cal State Chico to study computer science and 3-D animation design. 

   The valedictorian at West Valley High School is Michael Martin, who earned a 4.45 GPA and achieved an SAT score of 2290. Michael wants to attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he will study nuclear engineering. 

   The salutatorian is Vishwajit Shinde, who earned a 4.09 GPA and achieved an SAT score of 1890. Next year he will attend either 
UC Riverside or University of Arizona and study in the medical field. 

   College Prep High School’s valedictorian will be Melissa Carlson, with a GPA of 4.0 and SAT score of 2000. She is undecided on a college, but she plans to study engineering. 

   The salutatorian will be Joshua Alfaro, who has a GPA of 3.61 and SAT score of 1870. He hopes to attend a college in California and major in physics.
