Hemet High Homecoming

Hemet High School had its fall Homecoming Game on Friday, September 23, 2016. The Bulldogs hosted the Spartans from Jurupa Hills High School. The Spartans ultimately won the football game with a 34-21 victory.

Over 3,000 people came out to support the Bulldogs. The band performed before the game to get the crowd ready for the game. At half-time, ASB members held up a backdrop for this year’s theme of "A Night in Athens" as the Dance Team performed a routine. After the performance, the five students nominated to be Homecoming Queen took the field. The crowd waited anxiously as the announcer called Carli Thornburg as the 2016 Fall Homecoming Queen.

Jason Thornburg, head football coach for Hemet High, said this was a tough loss for his team. Thornburg commented that the team refused to give up and continued to fight hard throughout all four quarters. The Bulldogs have no game this week; the league games start on October 7th with a game against Beaumont High School. Thornburg said the team will be focusing on attention to detail the next two weeks during practice. He is confident his team will continue to fight and play well during their league games.

On Saturday September 24, 2016, over 780 students attended "A Night in Athens" Homecoming Dance. The student body chose Carli Thornburg as their Queen and Mitch Hitchcock as their King.

Congratulations to the new King and Queen of Hemet High School!
